Biography of The Rt. Rev. Jacob Ateirweho Amooti
The Rt. Rev. Jacob Ateirweho Amooti is a dedicated servant of God and a respected leader in the Church of Uganda, currently serving as the Bishop of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese. Born on August 24, 1968, to Levi and Evasta Bwanswa, Bishop Ateirweho hails from Rukooge in the West Division of Hoima City.
He began his educational journey at Duhaga Boys Primary School and continued to Duhaga Secondary School before joining St. Leo's College, Kyegobe. His academic excellence and passion for teaching led him to the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK), where he earned a Diploma in Secondary Education. He later pursued theological studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Divinity from Uganda Christian University (UCU).
Bishop Ateirweho experienced a life-changing spiritual rebirth on April 5, 1991, when he gave his life to Christ. He was ordained as a deacon on February 5, 2006, and later as a priest on July 23, 2006. His journey in ministry has been marked by humility, service, and commitment to education and discipleship.

His consecration as the Bishop of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese took place on August 11, 2024, marking a new chapter in his ministry, where he continues to lead with wisdom and a pastoral heart.
Bishop Jacob Ateirweho is also a gifted musician with a deep love for gospel music, which he uses as a tool for evangelism and worship.
