Biography of The Rt. Rev. Jacob Ateirweho Amooti
The Rt. Rev. Jacob Ateirweho Amooti is a dedicated servant of God and a respected leader in the Church of Uganda, currently serving as the Bishop of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese. Born on August 24, 1968, to Levi and Evasta Bwanswa, Bishop Ateirweho hails from Rukooge in the West Division of Hoima City.
He began his educational journey at Duhaga Boys Primary School and continued to Duhaga Secondary School before joining St. Leo's College, Kyegobe. His academic excellence and passion for teaching led him to the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK), where he earned a Diploma in Secondary Education. He later pursued theological studies and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Divinity from Uganda Christian University (UCU).
Bishop Ateirweho experienced a life-changing spiritual rebirth on April 5, 1991, when he gave his life to Christ. He was ordained as a deacon on February 5, 2006, and later as a priest on July 23, 2006. His journey in ministry has been marked by humility, service, and commitment to education and discipleship.
Before becoming bishop, he served in various capacities, including:

His consecration as the Bishop of Bunyoro-Kitara Diocese took place on August 11, 2024, marking a new chapter in his ministry, where he continues to lead with wisdom and a pastoral heart.
Bishop Jacob Ateirweho is also a gifted musician with a deep love for gospel music, which he uses as a tool for evangelism and worship.

Bishop Jacob Ateirweho is married to Maama Irene K. Ateirweho Abooki, and together they are blessed with five children.

Diocesan Bishop
The spiritual leader providing pastoral care, vision, and oversight for the Diocese

Chief administrator of the Diocese, assisting the Bishop and managing human resources.

Diocesan Treasurer
Handles fundraising, financial management, budgeting, and oversees the Diocesan fleet.

Diocesan Planning and Development Officer
Manages daily administration, planning, and coordination of diocesan programs.

Diocesan Estates Officer
.Responsible for managing and protection of all Diocesan land and estates. It is also charged with guiding and supporting Parishes in managing and protecting land and estates.

Diocesan Education Co-ordinator with his wife
Oversees Christian education programs, supports church schools, and coordinates training for clergy, teachers, and lay leaders.

Mothers Union/ Women co-ordinator
Coordinating all women’s ministry activities, leading women’s projects, mobilizing women to join the Mothers' Union and Christian Women Fellowship, and managing the Mothers' Union Guest Centre.

Diocesan Mission Co-ordinator
Responsible for fulfilling Christ’s mission through holistic teaching, evangelism, discipleship, and healing, with a core focus on spreading the Gospel throughout the Diocese.

Community Bible Study office Manager
Coordinating community Bible study within the Diocese through printing and distributing reading materials, and training leaders and members in effective Bible study methods.

Diocesan Youth Co-ordinator
Coordinating youth and student ministry across the Diocese by promoting talent development, organizing crusades, conferences, and camps, training in Brass Band music, and fundraising for the department.

Diocesan Health Co-ordinator
Responsible for the overall leadership and development of all health-related activities in the Diocese, including coordination of health insurance and oversight of multiple health centres and community health units.

Diocesan Children Ministry Co-ordinator
Coordinates and supports children’s spiritual programs, teacher training, and child-focused activities across the Diocese.

Ass Diocesan Mission Co-ordinator

Supports mission strategy planning, mobilizes local parishes for outreach, and coordinates diocesan evangelism activities.

Bishop's Chaplain
Supports the Bishop in daily duties, liturgical events, and communication.

Community Bible Study Co-ordinator
Coordinating community Bible study within the Diocese through distributing reading materials and training leaders and members in effective Bible study methods.
